Several weeks ago, I had the pleasure of sitting down and speaking with the host of 100 Watts and a Wire podcast, Christian Cudnik.
Christian formerly worked with NPR, has extensive television experience, and has won Emmys for his work.
Having worked in media most of his life, Christian became intrigued by a different means of communication, ham radio.
He wanted to learn the ins and outs of the ham radio operation and quickly discovered there was a lot he didn't know.
Fast forwarding several years, Christian now hosts a weekly podcast, 100 Watts and a Wire. The show is dedicated to helping others learn more about ham radio and how they can become involved.
Christian has created a community where it's okay not to know and where any and all questions are encouraged.
The community's Facebook page is a flurry of activity where ideas are exchanged, reviews are read, and time-tested knowledge changes hands.
Christian is not only a fan of ham radio but also the outdoors. Before partnering with PowerFilm, Christian had to lug a bulky crystalline solar panel and heavy lead acid batteries to wherever he wanted to transmit from.
This made true mobility nearly impossible. Currently, Christian utilizes a PowerFilm lightweight 120 Watt Foldable Solar Panel and lightweight lithium-ion portable battery making remote setups a breeze.
No longer tied down by heavy batteries and awkward panels, Christian enjoys his passion for the outdoors and ham radio.
